Canopy Growth announced yesterday that they were looking for a new CEO to replace Bruce Linton by the end of the calendar year.

It wasn’t that long ago that Linton was the poster boy for Canopy that lead to a crazy run on pot stocks and basically the spokesperson for the entire cannabis industry.

On the first day of legal cannabis in Canada, it was Linton pictured at the cash desk accepting payment as history was made and made legal pot a reality.

Dead or Alive! Bruce Linton was the best SEO strategy for Canopy Growth

Things were good for Linton until Constellation Brands (Corona Beer) invested $5 billion in Canopy Growth and now with seats on the board, had a big voice in how the company was going to be managed moving forward.

Just like Jerry Maguire, Linton continued to manage the direction of the company and was now facing the classic question from investors… Where’s the money?

Was it a classic case of smoke and mirrors or just bad business that caught up with Linton and eventually lead to him getting fired?

Bruce Linton out as co-CEO of Canopy Growth cannabis company

Dead or alive, Bruce Linton was everywhere. He was the face behind the brand and for legal cannabis in general before and after it went legit last October.

It’s for these reasons that Linton was great for Canopy and their SEO because he made daily appearances across both Canadian and US major media outlets that all linked back to the company. Let’s take a dive..
